belated, but I did it!! I defended!!! I'm the luckiest gal in the world to have all the love and support that I do in the @Manetsch_Lab and @NU_Chemistry ♥️🖤 excited to do some cool science before jetting off to my super secret next step, coming to a tweet near you eventually
Earlier this month, a new PhD was added to the roster: Dr. Alicia Wagner, whose work focused on the discovery and optimization of several antimalarial chemotypes! We're all proud of the work she's accomplished here, and will be cheering her on in the next step in her career!🍾🎉
The Manetsch Lab twitter has been relatively silent over the past few months as our "social media manager" (@medicinAlicia, the secret is out) has been occupied with a few other things. A few exciting tweets coming to you soon!

Efficient Biomimetic Total Synthesis, Characterization, and Antioxidant Activity of Ommatins
Ommatins, natural colorants found in cephalopods and arthropods, are biosynthesized from tryptophan with uncyclized xanthommatin (Uc-Xa) as the key biosynthetic precursor. These pigments change color...

Today's the day!!! If you are interested to hear an antimalarial drug discovery talk (from screen to in vivo candidate) please join me in the @AcsMedi award session in Mile High Ballroom 3A 2:10 - 2:45 pm. Lots of excellent talks after, too!
Happy #ACSFall2024 day 1! The lab has two back to back talks in the @ACSorganic Total Synthesis of Complex Molecules session. Come to Mile High Ballroom 4E to hear about xanthommatin (Lili 3:40 pm) 🐙🦑and streptothricin F (Yuliya 4:00 pm)! 🧪🦠
We have a new PhD in the house (lab)!!!! 🎉🍾 Many congrats to Dr. Brandon Miller, renowned producer of streptothricin F! Though we will hate to lose him, if you're looking for an incredibly talented chemist, he is on the market. Message him on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/brandon-c-m…
I am delighted to share our most recent research on antimalarials, published in the European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.@Manetsch_Lab Please take a look for further details - authors.elsevier.com/c/1jIrkoqiQIMgv
We are so proud of Yuliya, 3rd yr PhD Candidate in the lab, who has been selected as an @ACSorganic travel award recipient for ACS Fall! Stop by the Total Synthesis of Complex Molecules session on Sunday 4:00 - 4:20 pm to hear about this award-winner's work 😉
