Phenomenal to have my letter to the editor on Venezuela featured in today's @WSJopinion. I'm convinced that dislodging the ruling coalition remains the most viable path toward a democratic transition. 🇻🇪 wsj.com/opinion/will-a… via @WSJopinion

Quico wtf? Are you seriously making the case that the US is responsible for millions of Venezuelan fleeing? Coming from you is frankly shocking. Maduro creates worst refugee crisis through his policies and you give him the whole “imperialismo yankee” bullshit excuse?

Essay: Trump tried once before to bring down the Venezuelan dictator, prompting millions of Venezuelans to flee. Is a repeat on the horizon? on.wsj.com/49IwrgN

Whatever you think about what’s happening: @MariaCorinaYA got 90% oppo primary votes. There is no metric that points to high polarization if one of the parts is at 90%. Or 70%, the oppo vote last year. The oppo isn’t “split”. Venezuelans are not “divided”. They are kidnapped.

Twenty years of U.S. sanctions against Venezuela, says @60Minutes ... But economic sanctions began in 2019 against Venezuela's state oil company. What doomed Venezuela's economy and led eight million to flee was the seizure of companies and farms along with massive corruption.

Journalists can make mistakes, but this one is huge: Venezuela has not been 20 years under sanctions. They started in 2019 and we were already hit by hyperinflation, scarcity and our currency was already destroyed. Corruption at every-single-level.

Iran's air defences were superior to Venezuela's on paper, and they did not challenge the Israeli Air Force; which is inferior to the USAF and the USN in every way. Dismantling Venezuela's air defences would realistically take the American military a few hours, if that.

We all agree the US is likely to strike targets on Venezuelan land. We agree “boots on the ground” are highly improbable. But my question is, does that change if Venezuela shoots down an American plane? This article ably explains why that’s a real issue theatlantic.com/national-secur…
