PSA: making payment with lightning is private due to onion routing. Receiving payment is not. Invoices reveal your node and your channel network. Never use your routing node to receive a payment linked to real world identity. Use a leaf node instead. KYC 101

It’s funny how memory requirements collapsed from tens of gigabytes to a one or two just by turning off the watch tower. Guess it has been out of sync for a while, bad choice for watchtower VPS.
(3/3) Hiro finally synced, but unable to remove the watchtower due to the session negotiation in process error. I gave up. Deactivated wtclient entirely in the conf file. Running watchtowers on high traffic nodes is a scalability issue. Nodes should be stable now.
(2/3) Channels on hiro and ando went disabled 8 hours ago. Likely the WT sync is screwing with the system resources. A lot of WT errors in the log about EOFs and failures to connect. Local bitcoin node stopped sync at block 760863 because the outbound tunnel got disrupted.
(1/3) Info update: source of the memory leak is an out of sync watchtower. after failing to re-synchronize WT over the internet I moved it to the same machine. It's now doing about 120k state uploads per hour.
Restarted ando again. Runtime 11 days. Restart time 13 minutes. Memory consumption again over 70GB. There is something with the 0.15.x of LND causing memory issues. May require a weekly restart for now.
I count myself as one who would NOT have predicted sub $20,000 in Oct 2022.
Restarted ando. Prior runtime 2 weeks. Reboot time 7 minutes. Memory consumption seems leaky. Was creeping up to 70GB. Now down to half. If this keeps up I need a bigger boat.
Back from another involuntary network outage due to a bad switch. 7 hours. Some force closures happened. Increasing the time lock delta from 40 to 144 to allow for more time when detecting and mitigating an outage.
