Last tweet was on the multiplication of 5 and even number. Today is for odd. To do that, assign all the odd numbers serially. 1 has 0, 3 has 1 and 5 has 2. 5 x 1 should be equal to assigned number and 5 which is 05. Next 15, next 25 and in that order. What is your take?
Some times mathematical trick makes things easy. 126x5 = 630. But 126 as an even number can be divided by 2 to have 63. Just add 0 to it, it gives the result. So when an even number is multiplied by 5, simply divide that even number by 2 and add 0, you get the result. Right?

In my teaching platform in Facebook, I was talking about how important it is to use what is very familiar to a student in teaching mathematics. I said if a student is familiar with water use water as example. Then I got a question, how can I use water to teach mathematics? Reply
Some may like to know what Pythagoras theorem is all about. It simply establishes the relationship between the 3 sides of a right angle triangle. That relationship says that the sum of the square of other two sides of right angle triangle is equal to the square of the hypothenus.
No one knew that covid-19 will ravage the world. This forced the idea of using technology in teaching to some who did not embrace the use of technology prior to the emergence of the virus. But, till now how many have seen the importance of using technological tools in teaching?
Some make mistake in explaining Pythagoras theorem. They do say a² + b² = c². This can only be correct when letter c is used to represent the hypothenus or the longest part of a right angle triangle. At the same time, not only a, b, and c can be used in explaining the theorem.

I have observed that one of the things that make students not to understand mathematics is the inability of the teacher using unfamiliar items as instructional materials. An example is teaching addition (5+5) to pupils without using what are very close to them like their fingers
The fifth step is to give very simple questions for students to play with. Lastly is to repeat the vital steps in approaching a problem that has to do with such topic. These points do not prevent other teaching techniques that may be applied as need arises. Assignment comes last
The second step is to create a natural problem within the environment of the students which that topic supposed to treat. Thirdly, a practical example is used as example to allow students to be used to the norms as it relates to the topic.
Teaching of mathematics is a fun when I approach it using the following steps. First explaining what the topic is or entails from the basic idea as it may be used to solve a natural problem. While making the explanation, things in the environment familiar with students are used.
Having made some explanations showing how mathematics is really an instinct to solve a natural problem, it then means that once a Mathematics problem is approached from the basic principle of addressing the problem of nature, mathematics becomes a fun.
Yes, multiplication can be used but alternatively, addition can also be applied. 3 x 2 = 6..... multiplication 3 + 3 = 6..... addition
One could ask what happens when the children go to pick the fruits for two days? This is a good question. Let us look at it that a regular quantity used to be picked by one of the kids. If the kid picked 3 fruits for 2 days, multiplication has to be used to get the result.
A situation where one of the children wants to honour his parent, the child may decide to say, to every three of the fruits picked, he will give his parent two and take one. With this in mind, the idea of ratio comes in. So if the child picked 9 fruits, parent - 6 while child- 3.
In order to know the number of fruits picked by each child, natural counting system comes into play. It is from here that number bases were initiated to look at countings, should one choose to count in pairs( base 2 or binary ), in group of 7 like weekly or dozens etc.
