In the 1980s, Western Australia became a byword for large-scale corruption. Now a new era is beginning — but there are no spivs this time, just giant corporate interests for which WA Labor is acting as a proxy. @BernardKeane has more. crikey.com.au/2023/12/14/wes…

Today's @TheNewDailyAu column, in which I diagnose Labor's PTSD, causing it to be frozen on refugees, tax and climate change, and suggest a course of therapy with Dr Keating. thenewdaily.com.au/opinion/2023/1…

Keating prescribes the cure for Labor’s PTSD
It’s not just refugees and released detainees that have given Labor political PTSD – it’s housing, taxes and climate change as well.
This country’s governance is so utterly cooked. “The gas industry was the only stakeholder consulted before policy proposal was ditched by the Northern Territory government, FoI documents show.” @_LisaMCox lifts the lid, again. theguardian.com/australia-news…
Editorial: All reasonable economists urge the government not to implement the stage three tax cuts. Anyone looking at their impact can see they will make the country less fair, that they will unpick the safety net and undermine health and education. satpa.pe/3AjAMlX
“People dying overseas without WA gas, premier says” My god. This is absolutely untrue @RogerCookMLA The science clearly shows fossil fuel use is causing dangerous & deadly extreme weather. We need new green jobs not more of @WoodsideEnergy’s dirty gas smh.com.au/national/overs…

People dying overseas without WA gas, premier says
The West Australian premier has doubled down on recent commentary about the importance of the state’s role in continuing to approve new gas supply projects.
We know from DBCA records and from fire behaviour science that burning tingle forest undermines the natural processes that keep its fire risk low. Sign the petition here to stop the next burn. chng.it/gHqkYV79 via @ChangeAUS
.@AustralianLabor’s and @tanya_plibersek’s promise to ‘end the environmental neglect’ doesn’t seem all that convincing… Conservation groups challenge Labor over ‘lack of urgency’ on environment laws - By @_LisaMCox theguardian.com/australia-news…
This would be funny if it wasn’t so deeply sad. Climate change is the biggest risk to our koalas. The @AlboMP government’s $11 billion per annum fossil fuel subsidies and the 147 million tonnes of emissions from @tanya_plibersek’s new coal mines are making it much worse. 😢
No one wants to imagine a future without koalas. That’s why we’re investing $12.4 Million to fund koala health projects across Queensland - so koalas like Brandy can get the care they need when disaster strikes.
Recommend you build a really BIG wildlife hospital, @tanya_plibersek, because no amount of koala photo opps. will save Brandy and native wildlife while you continue to allow their homes to be destroyed and you and @AustralianLabor support the expansion of fossil fuel production.

>30,000 people made submissions to the Samuel review of the EPBC Act 1999 Research shows 85% of Australians are concerned about threats to the environment & overwhelmingly want more action (97%!) What should they look for in draft new nature laws? theconversation.com/5-things-we-ne…
The insects are almost gone 70% of wildlife gone in just 50 years Billions of birds gone Nature is being eradicated Humans so detached from nature, they still arrogantly think they will not be next and can continue to wage war on nature - assuming they can survive without nature
If you're old enough, you may recall that 20 years ago or more, you used to see many more dead insects on your car's windshield, while today you see almost none. This is called the Windshield Phenomenon. In the first years 2000s it became a commonplace observation among drivers…
Josh, I support your stance on this issue, but please, no Labor politician can talk about hypocrisy while keeping a straight face. .@AustralianLabor are failing us _miserably_ on: - climate - environment - social justice & inequity ... You talked a BIG game in opposition...

After the Govt told us on Friday that their 'Sea Dumping' Bill was for gas companies Santos, Woodside and INPEX the Coalition & Labor are now voting to alter the hours of the Senate to get the bill through for their donors.
State capture.
Saying the quiet part out loud...🙃 When the opposition wouldn't cooperate with the government attempting to ram through their favour for Santos - the Sea Dumping Bill - this happened: "You said no to Santos." "You said no to Woodside. " "You said no Inpex." #auspol
