July 4, 1776: Wondering whether the USA is the only country to celebrate its independence on the anniversary of simply declaring it, rather than on the anniversary of winning it. In our case, the British surrender at Yorktown, Virginia: October 19, 1781. If so, that’s badass.

During Q&A at a recent public talk I gave in southern Georgia, a gentlemen in VIP seating self-identified as a Nerd Redneck. Told him about “Blerds” (Black Nerds) and that he needed a name for his people. We agreed on “Nerdnecks.” Many Nerdnecks are also fans of @StarTalkRadio.
