These women need help now
@probert_david a no. of women from NI fought for ECR’s to @uclh for #mesh removal. We have been left in debilitating pain because of incomplete surgeries & appts being repeatedly cancelled. Could you please step in to rectify this or give onward ECR’s to a hospital that can!
I asked @bloodinquiry why they are listed as the buyer on the @cabinetofficeuk contract with @brownejacobson for Gov's Infected Blood Compensation "advice" ... The Inquiry say they have never seen the contract and are not the buyer... @JohnGlenUK ?
If you're an NHS board doing this I can guarantee at some point you're going to end up dealing with a media enquiry from me when the 💩 hits the fan: kingsfund.org.uk/blog/2023/10/p…
The PSC's team doesn't even have the capacity to support pelvic mesh, or the IMMDS's recommendations-they've told us outright they don't have the capacity to work on all of them. The government should fund more staff for this office-the post can hardly be called a PSC at present

DHSC “We have every sympathy with those harmed by Sodium Valproate”
Conflicts of Interest in medicine: taking money from industry without telling anybody, poses a serious risk to research integrity & #patientsafety Its rife & has been a MASSIVE problem in healthcare for decades. It played a huge role in #mesh #primodos scandals @PSCommissioner
What about the Cumberlege Review and its recommendations, many of which have still not been actioned? What is the purpose of the PSC role?
This week the Hewitt Review on the future of ICSs was published. I welcome the need to place the interests of patients and the public first. It’s clear that there are examples of great practice in listening to and acting on the voi…lnkd.in/erRbvpst gov.uk
So when the Bleeding Edge documentary said, of implant scandals, “reversibility is key”, apparently even that doesn’t work because doctors will just think it’s women being hysterical again
One of the 9 First Do No Harm recommendations was financial redress delivered using a non-adversarial process. NHS Resolution is NOT the answer as it’s a litigious process that’s stressful & relies on women proving blame @mariacaulfield @PSCommissioner @EmmaHardyMP @APPGFDNH
Thanks @mariacaulfield for meeting with #mesh campaigners today to discuss how to improve specialist mesh centres & tackling financial redress to improve the lives of women whose health has been irreversibly harmed @EmmaHardyMP
Many are prepared to speak - however, were not invited I recall an RCOG conference in which a woman gave a patient’s perspective on Mesh yet she wasn’t even implanted with Mesh When I queried this, I was told she learnt by looking at my social media posts - how offensive
Terrible that women in NI @SlingtheMeshNI must get permission from their #mesh implanting surgeon to be seen in one of the 10 Specialist Removal centres in England or Scotland. Unsurprisingly many face a mighty battle @EmmaHardyMP questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questi…
Yes and it made damn all difference. Besides, you guys only started letting patients report to the yellow card system as a result of a BBC investigation - the MHRA is about the least patient-facing medical org in the UK.
1/4 We're supporting #MedSafetyWeek and have a poll! We want to know what you know about the #YellowCard scheme and how to report side effects to medicines and medical devices. Q1 - If you've ever had a side effect, did you report it using the Yellow Card scheme?
The Great and the Good in Scotland can sound like they're still living in 2011, "don't believe these irrational accounts on the internet". In reality, since the rise of social media, it's too hard to play down excess harm from e.g. Essure and mesh as accounts are so numerous.
Music to our ears @AaronBell4NUL we want mandatory reporting conflicts of interest in a central base like other countries seem to manage. Transparency. Not run by trusts where its diluted and lost. Manufacturers to declare all monies paid to decision makers
What people want is for medicine to be humanised, what we have is medicine that is industrialised - my message to the First Do No Harm APPG this morning @SarahGreenLD @natalieben @FeryalClark @EmmaHardyMP @SharonHodgson
I wrote a lot for the @Telegraph health section last month and this ran on Monday - continuing my mission to investigate mesh surgery & tell the story of how it has affected women’s lives. Thanks Jennifer for talking to me. @ThompsonsLaw telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness…
Sling The Mesh has been successful in getting a clause into Health & Social Care Bill for 🇬🇧Sunshine Payment Act forcing industry to declare money given to Drs, teaching hospitals & research institutions. Such money was a key reason for #mesh #primodos #sodiumvalproate scandals
Where is the liason with rectopexy support groups & why are mesh centers not equipped yet to help us. We were told @NHSEngland were in talks with @TPFSuk. @PSCommissioner maybe you could facilitate so our many issues can be discussed @MeshCampaign
