You can’t operate an entire delivery economy charging bikes inside of apartments, especially when more + more people rely on these services. We need viable #LastMile infrastructure.
One solution is to create #micromobility infrastructure to get batteries + bikes out of apartments.
Delivery apps have deployed armies of e-bikes on the streets and sidewalks of New York City and the City Council is looking for ways to make those companies responsible for the myriad health and safety concerns that have erupted as a result. gothamist.com/news/delivery-…
The best way to move deliveries is to *keep* moving deliveries—regardless of street congestion. Micromobility options can make it happen.
It’s clear people want access to #micromobility solutions. When people have a choice, they will join #edevice users.
Absolutely incredible response to @CityofAtlanta and @AtlantaRegional E-Bike Rebate program. Since the portal opened at 12:01am on 6/16, we have received… 4,867 applications ‼️ Open till 11:59p on 6/23 (atlantaregional.org/what-we-do/mob…) We’re gonna need a bigger $$$ bucket…🥳
Nothing beats the feeling of an electric kick with the wind at your face on a hot day. The cars are gridlocked but e-devices are not.
Studies from 24 countries reveal 58% of adults are more mindful of their impact on the environment + 85% are willing to take action to combat climate change. A direct, positive way is transportation. #micromobility is the best, most direct, way to cut carbon in transportation.
Economics of buying, driving + fixing cars have changed. In 1997–just a few decades ago—62% of 17 YOs had their license. Today, only 42% are legally able to drive. Micromobility solutions offer a different mode of transportation that is more accessible + cost effective.
Creating the framework for a #LastMile transit system means more: choices, types of businesses, ways to get around, perspectives of the neighborhood. We create options when leaning-in to new forms of transportation + making that system of infrastructure a reality.
We need an ‘all-of-the-above’ approach to the War on Carbon. Today, shared micromobility solutions—on the whole—help reduce transportation emissions. #Edevices can prevent ~20 grams of CO2 emissions per mile ridden. We have solutions—they just have to be implemented.
What happens when you invest in #micromobility? $$$ that would have gone to a conglomerate, multinational oil company is reinvested locally, with those dollars staying in the community + enriching the lives of the people there.
#micromobility can do what traditional cars can't: means-tested support. #EDevice programs--like shares--have more options inclusive price points. More people can have access w/ fewer barriers to entry. More infrastructure + more access creates better micromobile futures.
#ecargo is most adaptable, scalable way to deliver across cities. Bike lanes are designed to move efficiently. Streets are only becoming more dense-not less-let's support infrastructure for the system run. We must ensure charging for deliveries to move marketplace.org/2024/06/04/e-c…
Vehicle-dependent infrastructure requires upgrades. In NY alone, 46% of roads are in poor condition. Driving on lesser roads costs NY motorists $8.9 billion/year ($739/driver)from repairs, depreciation, breakdown of tires + gas. #lastmile transit helps both communities + cars
If most trips are under 5 miles (60%) + cars are becoming more expensive, we should work to create different cost-effective infrastructure to move people + goods. #Micromobility IS a viable solution for many + it's already working in many places. pbs.org/newshour/econo…
We have so many opportunities to innovate the #micromobility sector, where so many interesting companies + uses—commercial + personal—create a new reality in transportation. We are only at the beginning of this process.
