Here’s the secret to building relationships: Actually like kids That’s it. No fancy handshakes, no dancing and singing like a fool every morning. That stuff is for show and kids know it. Just like kids. It’s easy. And if you don’t, find something else to do.

Oh wait, so the quarter zip I wear to school every day is now trendy? Look at me being ahead of the fashion curve.

I am thankful for…our custodians, lunch ladies, secretaries, bus drivers, maintenance folks, grounds crew, teachers, administrators, parents, and students. Remove one piece and the whole thing begins to crumble. Thank you for what you do!

Drop your education related Black Friday deals in the comments. Let’s help each other save a few bucks! #BlackFriday

Sunday nights are a little less scary when there’s only two days of school this week!

Just to be clear, I’m posting from the United States.

When you remove the human element from teaching, preaching, music, cooking, art, you lose something very fundamental. We are at a major tipping point as a civilization.

We don’t have to accept AI in our classrooms.

I second the @Pontifex

Pope Leo XIV warns American young of the temptation to use AI for school work: “Don’t use AI do your homework.”

You have my permission to make hand traced turkeys with your students.

Your answer to a student question should almost NEVER be to go watch a YouTube video.

Put your phone away!

Without naming your job, tell me something you say 20 times per day at work

I recently lost my favorite teacher from high school. I love seeing all the outpouring of love for him on social media but can’t help wonder if he knew the impact he had on us all. Find your favorite teacher and tell them today what they meant to you.

Building relationships isn’t about being friends with kids, it’s about building trust, rapport, and respect.

We've spent years making teachers less authoritative in an attempt to "build relationships." But students don't need another friend. They need an anchor, an adult who can hold steady when the chaos of the world around them doesn't.

All gave some, and some gave all. Thanks to all of our veterans for your service and sacrifice. If you are a teacher AND a veteran we salute you! #VeteransDay

Just added a bonus chapter to my upcoming book: “Make PD Great Again (or for the first time)”

I am convinced you could replace every PD day with a teacher work day and it would be ten times more productive.

This article gets almost everything entirely wrong about cell phones in school.

'Ultimately, the anti-smartphone crusade feels like a nostalgic yearning for a simpler time that never truly existed. The solution isn't a ban that relieves us of our educational duty' schoolsweek.co.uk/banning-phones…
