We're on a limited internet connection so we haven't been able to upload photos of animals from the trawls... Stay tuned.


Trawl is on its way up from 4500+ meters!


All six landers are safely on the bottom. Hopefully they're being colonized by inverts as we speak! Now we're on to benthic sampling.


Five landers down, one to go!


Waves up to 13 feet but at least it's sunny :)


This work is part of a collaboration with Dr. Craig Smith's lab at the University of Hawaii to study deep-sea ecology and phylogeography.


Each lander has wood, whale bones, and "control" substrates.

Members from the Molette lab are currently at sea on the R/V Oceanus participating in a project to study whale bone-eating worms!
