Just to be clear: all schools are going to reopen. Class is going to be in session. It’s just a question of if the BUILDINGS will be open, to who and how often.
Education Secretary Betsy DeVos told Fox that public schools that don't reopen in the fall should not get federal funds, and that the money should be redirected to families who can use it to find another option for their children. axios.com/besty-devos-sc…

The @Desmos curriculum team is POWERING through Grade 7 right now. About the best compliment I can pay any curriculum is that when I see it I wish dearly I was teaching THAT grade. Here's a quick reel with some of what students will experience next year.
My dissertation was on the history of mathematics (polynomial equations, specifically). I had no idea at the time that I would use it so much in my life but always have some really interesting discussions in class when learning about the origins of various mathematical ideas!
I have been in math education for over 25 years. Only now have I begun to see more interest in math history. But, that interest has to be centered, not marginalized or patronized. medium.com/@sunilsingh_42…
Looking good!
As we use Google Meet to learn, grow as educators in this important time, and connect with students - these updates might be of interest. #infusedclassroom #GoogleEdu #chromebook

Timothee Chalamet really thanked Ms lawton for teaching him statistics at the graduation
“If we want to give our kids grades during this time, we’re really going to be grading what their home life looks like,” she said. “And I don’t think it’s fair to do that to anyone.” edweek.org/ew/articles/20…
Week 1 of my 1st grade boys learning online. Yoga, hikes, class Meets, virtual story time, number talks. They’re so glad to be “back to school”!
Week 1 of teaching online... it’s a lot of prep! Used Google Meets to discuss #WODB today. Trying to keep assignments simple for the week but am saving some good talks for our optional meets for those who want to discuss. Trying an #openmiddle problem in tomorrow’s meets.
Can’t wait to dig in to these ASAP and give my students even more engaging, open-ended tasks. Fantastic gifts of @joboaler’s books from parents at our annual book fair! #mindsetmathematics
Been back from #NCCAT4Cs for a few hours and already using my #HyperDoc and #flipgrid activity. Love it when PD gives you ideas to use right away #NCCAT
Q3 Students collaborate in my classroom in pairs or small groups at their round tables. They use Google Docs, Desmos, whiteboards and posters etc to share their ideas, problem solve and collaborate with others. #NCCAT4Cs
High five to @mspeeler for driving us all to Cullowhee for this fantastic NCCAT conference! #NCCAT4Cs #NCCAT
