The work from home response to coronavirus could change the narrative of urban life. Many will return to commuting, but some (perhaps many) will not. Suburbia is activated as workers live, work & play within 20-min cities. See (p/w) lnkd.in/gHGt6g2 #urbanplanning

Where, how, why are these gargantuan towers clustered so close to Central Station’s iconic clock tower going to fit? crowding out tower, but completely lacking any urban strategy for how the greater station precinct will change over time? Demolishing buildings just 20 years old?

Did you know: “NSW is the only Australian state or territory that has not decriminalised abortion laws. Abortion still falls under the Crimes Act 1900, and can be punishable by a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment for women and the doctors who perform them.”

Happy #NationalTreeDay 🌳❤️🌳! Did you know: in 1 year, a mature tree can absorb 3,400 litres of stormwater, filter 27kg of air pollutants + provide a cooling effect equivalent to running 10 air conditioners continuously. More info city.sydney/sydney-trees 📷 @lhva1mk on Instagram

Really important that Councils encourage and embrace these models in our inner city and middle ring suburbs

I’ve been hopping on trams, the metro & busses, and I have to say that Milan’s public transit system is great. Traveling in the city center is seamless and affordable, and that’s really how a good transit system should work.

#Sydney’s not full "points agreed on by the groups include the need to deliver at least 5000 extra social housing dwellings per year for the next 10 years, establishing a goal of ending homelessness in NSW by 2028" smh.com.au/politics/nsw/s… #HousingCrisis #nswpol #KeyWorkerHousing

Agreed, look at the higher density in some of the European countries and cities we all love to visit. Wonderful urbanism, great facilities, sense of community and liveability with the public transport systems to support it. We can’t stay a car based, single dwelling city.

I could not agree more. I’m in HK today where we have 6700 people per ha. Sydney’s dense urban area is about 1300. Not that we want to be HK but we do need to learn from their efficiencies.

This plan shows the importance of keeping our coastal & harbour front land in public ownership, & not just a narrow strip. This tension has existed since Eoropean occupation, & we still get catastrophes like Barangaroo on public land #publicsydney

Imagine walking along Sydney’s pristine harbour, from Manly, over the bridge, through the city and on to Bondi. This will soon be a reality.

Sydney is not full, this is very concerning from State Government. When said by Labor before it lead to an effective recession and no infrastructure for some 9 years, exactly the opposite of what Sydney needs. We need more professional staff, more infrastructure not closed doors.
