Students have been using art to show their learning of Alberta's natural regions.
Student have been spending their science time this week exploring simple machines. The plan is to extend this learning into a design thinking challenge that will ask them to think of ways they can reduce the physical work in common classroom activities using simple machines.
Students have been adding lots of colour to the classroom creating textures with leaves and experimenting with shades and tints.
Thank you to our friend Mrs. Jost for the donation of a whole bunch of stencils and stamps for the classroom. Students had a great time experimenting with new designs and patterns.
I believe the students' favourite part of our trip to the Saddle Town @calgarylibrary this week was their button maker. Mine was the automated book sorting machine.
Usually students are quick to remind me exactly when nutrition break is. One day this week they were so engaged learning about surface area I didn’t hear a peep about snacks until we had to stop for lunch.
Students are having a ton of fun with the literacy task bins Mrs. Au, our Inclusive Ed Learning Leader prepared for the class. So thankful for the support and engaging activities.
Our growing mould experiment is underway. A shout out to wordle for the connection to the students' Science learning over the past 2 weeks.
If you haven't already, this is a great week to register for your Calgary Public Library card. reg.calgarylibrary.ca
It was a beautiful morning to take a walk with students down to the storm pond. We were taking an inventory of the producers and consumers we could find.
Teacher learning this week: Maybe skip painting in art class on picture day.
I couldn't have asked for a better first week back @MSBhullarCBE . A huge thank you to the students, colleagues and families who made this such a successful transition back from our summer vacations.
Last week students showed adaptability and flexibility with a classroom move and welcoming their new Pre-Service Teacher, Ms. McSorley to the class. She did a great job teaching them about fractions of a set and some new Math games.
Students enjoyed their work with 2D and 3D shapes this week.
Students selected an animal to research and then showed their understanding by designing book covers to show how the topic might be developed as an expository or narrative text.
This week student learning included using referents to estimate and measure the classroom and some visual journalling around the 7 Sacred Laws.
