Nice feeling when you plan a Scheme of Work from scratch and first lesson tells you you've pitched it at the perfect pace for the class!
No #CasConf2025 for me this year! 😔 Although this is due to my PGCE graduation taking place on the same day - we'll allow it this year 😃
The last few weeks has been a great opportunity to try out different routines with classes. Year 9s have been tricky so far, but this week I feel like I've made great progress with them!
6 weeks as an ECT! I'm nackered, but am really feeling good about the learning that's happening in my classroom, and the routines embedded at the core of it all! 2 more weeks, then it's time to recharge!
I like Educating Yorkshire - the issue is that I'm now seeing even more ridiculous judgements of teachers from people who do not have a clue.
This week I've had really positive feedback from many that have popped into my lessons. I feel like ECT1 has started strongly!

Blimey - qualified teacher Vs trainee is a whole different kettle of fish. I am nackered - but really happy with how this first week has gone.

One of my favourite parts of @LeeAndersonMP_’s speech at conference last year. The indoctrination of our children must end.
If I had a pound for every time I've heard the word Blooket this week I could retire and move to Barbados.
The most humanising thing this week has been the transition from 'Mr PGCE' to 'Mr D McCarthy' on the cover sheet!
The round of applause my dad organised as I walked into our regular pub did get me a bit choked up I can't lie!
And just like that, the sign off is done! I'm a qualified teacher!
