Need some reading suggestions for the rest of the summer…want to read something that stirs up my love for teaching…reminds me of my why. What do fellow educators recommend?

“There comes a point when grasping for control makes you feel tired instead of safe.” - Kendra Adachi, #LazyGeniusWay bit.ly/2MQg85W

So, education pals....what to read this summer that will help me navigate what the 2020-2021 school year will look like? Need suggestions....

Thanks for visiting this week and highlighting MIS on KATV this morning @KATVJames! #lovetheshoutout

This, for goodness’ sake!

Admin, in 2020 look to your staff to take on leadership roles & responsibilities. This doesn’t make you lazy or weak but it makes you look confident in yourself & your team. The business world thrives by this mindset, but in education we think it’s weak. It’s just weak thinking

Can any of my PLN share how their schools have dealt with a shortage of funds to cover subs? Have your schools found effective ways to move away from using subs?

In just a few minutes, I’ve been challenged to bring out some books I love and share them again with students...to make time for it. Love my Twitter PLN! #EduAR

A5: Help students connect with books that they might love...and dust off some chapter books to read together...even if just a few pages at a time. #EduAR

A3: I remind my students that if they truly understand math concepts, they can write about them. This is where a working math vocabulary is so important. #EduAR

Karyn - 3rd grade math/science t from Monticello, AR popping in late. 😀 #EduAR

A5 Unpacking a standard with other Ts helps to clarify vocabulary, defines breadth and width of the goal and helps focus instruction. #eduAR

So glad that elem Ss in AR now have 40 min of recess...they’ve had that much time & more at my school 4 years. Question for AR Ts...have you been required to do more duty, both recess and other, due to the guideline that recess is considered instructional time? #AskingForAFriend

Q5: By being aware! When I get tired or frustrated, it’s easy to become selfish and forget that how I react impacts others...and ultimately the school environment. #EduAR

A4: When we teach responsively, which is something I strive to do, their needs, backgrounds and interests drive my curriculum, schedule, focus....

A4: reflective question - how do our students make an impact on education (in and around your building)? #EduAR

A4: Who else understands the needs of the students of today better than those of us who have a front-row seat? We need to use that information to make our schools and our profession better. #EduAR

Q3: It begins with a decision to do things well. Others will notice...ask questions...try to replicate. Influence is a by-product, not the objective. #EduAR

A2: The top ten? So many! Right now my partner teacher Libby Miller has so much impact....we are like-minded about helping all of our shared students grow. She’s such a great teacher, she keeps me on my toes and motivated to be better. #EduAR

A1: Being mindful that your words, actions, attitudes reach beyond yourself and make a difference in your surroundings. These things affect others. #EduAR

Karyn from Monticello, AR jumping in! 3rd grade t...it’s awesome that my students are beginning to connect the dots between activities we do in morning meetings and the habit of empathy. #EduAR
