Ohio native Daeida Wilcox Beveridge, along with her first husband, named and developed the town of Hollywood. She became known as “the Mother of Hollywood.” Born in Hicksville in 1861, she married Harvey H. Wilcox and moved to a farm outside of Los Angeles at the age of 25.
