Ohio native Daeida Wilcox Beveridge, along with her first husband, named and developed the town of Hollywood. She became known as “the Mother of Hollywood.” Born in Hicksville in 1861, she married Harvey H. Wilcox and moved to a farm outside of Los Angeles at the age of 25.

#OTD in 1933, gangster John Dillinger escaped from the Allen County jail in Lima, Ohio. He was awaiting trial after being arrested by Dayton police for robbing a bank in New Carlisle. He then went on nationwide crime spree with a group that became known as the “Dillinger Gang.”
