Sometimes when history unfolds, it immediately supersedes tomorrow’s lesson plan. Today is one of those days. Students will need to read, write, and talk about this.
NEW VACCINE PRIORITIES IN NORTH CAROLINA We’ve modified the vaccine rollout plan for North Carolina, based on new CDC guidance. The biggest changes are creating a specific priority for people 75-years-old and over and creating new sub-categories within existing phases.
I dream of a system where instead of kids asking, “Is this gonna be graded?” They ask, “Is this gonna help me grow?” Kids ain’t to blame. We created the script. We can change the script. Time for a new conversation. Change the conversation. Change the system.
I don’t know what will happen this fall when schools across the US should be opening, but I do know that worrying about it will not change anything. Try your best to enjoy your summer break when it comes and focus on your mental health.
FACT - Educators are not at home doing nothing! In many cases they are working harder, learning new skills, preparing lessons - while managing their own families, safety, stress & health! All the while never losing sight of their students - it’s incredible!

Lesson plans are important, and pedagogy matters… but some of the most important work of teachers, might not be captured by a plan. When teachers encourage, support, inspire, care about, and connect with their students… they are engaged in work that transcends the “plan.”
Congrats to @emeaglesports Sr. volleyball captain Sasha Stojkovich on being named the October winner of the Liz Murray Scholarship presented by the Hood Hargett Breakfast Club. Sasha has earned a $1500 scholarship based on academics, athletics, and community service. Great job👏
I taught a junior how to sign their name in cursive, because no one had ever taken the time to teach them. I was SO PROUD of them when they got it. I love helping kids in any way. I’m sure they will remember that for the rest of their life when they have to sign their name. 💙
The legacy of great teachers is not usually found in the lessons they taught to their students… but in the relationships they built with their students.
