ELT students filled out a survey today at the start of our program, and on the last page had a chance to answer some “getting to know you” questions. I loved the responses 😂
Today I had lunch with a student I worked with last year. She told me “when I moved here everyone told me you were the best teacher. Then the first time I worked with you I saw you were such a kind person and I thought “this could be my new favorite teacher.” 😍😭🤗
We took advantage of the wonderful weather to get outside for some math movement today! We timed ourselves doing different activities and shared strategies for determining if the number of second each activity took was even or odd.
Last week, our third grade groups explored place value and the relationships in the base ten system by creating different representations of numbers and comparing values. The hard work continues this week!
Intro’d fractions to my 2nd graders by reading “One Hungry Cat.” While reading students worked out how to share a cake with 3 people - such a progression of thought in the models they created! They started out cutting too many pieces, to unequal sizes, to perfect sharing!
