Today a student got mad at me for telling him to put away his guitar in class. I'm just trying to keep him from becoming a Wonderwall guy.
"I really liked Romeo and Juliet. Does Shakespeare have any other books?" MY HEART 🥲
Today I had the privilege of explaining the Revolutionary War to a student AFTER he turned in an essay about the impact of George Washington winning the Revolutionary War.
If you don’t have this many annotations, did your class even read The Crucible?
No, you can’t eat lunch in my classroom. That is my tik tok time
Pizza party and clothing swap to celebrate the new year!! Afterward, we donated all of the leftover clothes to Rare Breed. One of those days when you really feel the power of community ❤️
Female author presentations in the library were a perfect practice for students’ end-of-semester presentations in front of the class!
Shaping the future by making my A+ Tutors print double-sided stapled copies on the jammiest copier in the building, a skill known to only a select few in the world.
A boy spilled a whole bottle of cologne in his backpack so whenever he turns in an assignment my whole desk smells like Dolce and Gabana Light Blue
I have somehow become the vape buster teacher but it’s just because I drink a lot of water and the children are actively and visibly smoking in the bathroom ??
Listening to students willingly reading the extra scene in The Crucible out loud in their group - the night before I go to visit Salem!
Reverend Hale asks John Proctor to recite his commandments, but he can only remember 9 of them. Student: “oh, he is cooked.”
We got done with our House on Mango Street chapters, and no one knew what double Dutch was. I thought it was important that we relate to the kids in the novel, sooo…a lesson!
The other day, a student said, “tell those kids to stop being gay.” The class froze to see my reaction. My stock response is, “We don’t use that word as an insult. Pick another word.” He tried a few equally offensive terms until he got to “weird.” The whole class clapped.
Today a student told me I looked like a gender-bent fan cast of Remus Lupin, so…I think that’s good?
When asked, my partner can name the following debate styles: puff, Lincoln, and “that’s it.”

Thanks to @speechanddebate and the support of @officialSPS, I get to go on the trip of a lifetime ONCE A YEAR! Exploring new cities, eating excellent food, and doing things I never would have planned without the help of a debate kid’s mind. I am a lucky person.
I told one of the fourth graders to be careful with her drawing and she replied, “I’m never careful. But I’m always nice!” And I think that is a great response 😂
