I was never a big fan of supramaximal sprinting, but controlled assisted sprinting is a great tool. Back in the 90s, a clever mechanic built an inexpensive machine for us that’s still spinning👌

In my view, the only truly event-specific strength training for acceleration is resisted sprinting, which caps velocity to isolate and overload specific parts of the acceleration curve, targeting projection, postures, and force patterns of that phase! DynaSpeed @MuscleLabSystem

Early 00s, much thanks to @MuscleLabSystem we used machines that operated well with very low forces. Worked great for swimming but not for sprinting, vibrations were a problem. Quickly learned the line had to be super stiff & fine due to water turbulence. Guess the swim style?

With the rise of motorized speed devices, you have to think about how such education is really vetted...

Been using various machines for assisted sprinting since the early 90s. They did the job, but of course the data output was limited. I learned that pulling >5% of body mass is not only unnecessary, it can be dangerous. The trend I see on social media today is frankly ridiculous.

38 Jump approaches captured by Muscle Lab Laser yesterday. Infinitely better than timing gates and I am guessing much more accurate than GPS. Some of the reps and averages listed below. PRs range from 5.3 m - 7.10 m.

IMUs + Contact Grids Sensors on the feet, lumbar area, or upper back will receive reaction forces differently than contact grids that use IR. Scientists work on protocols to improve data quality, so when coaches let athletes cheat on the test it isn't good for the profession.
