Making t-shirts for your group? By using the same shirt color and design, year to year, you will cut down on member costs.
Plan an item that the students can be successful with at the end of each lesson. The students will leave feeling accomplished and positive.
Students not in time or on pulse? Instead of counting or clapping for them, ask the students to count/count-sing/clap the segment out loud.
A little encouragement and positive reinforcement goes a long way.
A professional relationship with your custodian can hold the keys to success... literally. Treat them well and your program will benefit.
When faced with an unknown student situation, remember that you are the always the adult. Take charge and do not be afraid to say "No."
Students will happily give responsibility back to their instructor. Keep responsibility in the student's court.
Take the high road in all aspects of your professional and personal life. Low roads flood, the high road never washes out.
Job interview? Talk about the way your experience will help the students and the band. Avoid talking only about yourself.
