Erróneamente se cree que el macuahauitl era un especie de mazo enorme y pesado, con grandes trozos disformes de obsidiana incrustados en sus bordes, cuando en realidad era todo lo contrario, el macuahauitl era angosto y ligero, ésto los hacía cómodos y fácil de maniobrar.
