Today is #BlackWomensEqualPay Day, when Black women’s pay catches up to what white, non-Hispanic men were paid in 2018. That means Black women must work 𝟐𝟎 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 to be paid what white men are paid in 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟐. It’s way past time to fix this gap.

We know from our #StatusofWomenandGirls report: many working mothers in MN are the primary breadwinner in the family, esp women of color & American Indian women. So when we invest in women and girls & demand #MomsEqualPay, we invest in families & communities.
Poverty rates are high for MN's female-headed families, esp for Latina, African Immigrant, & American Indian families. With affordable childcare out of reach, moms also shoulder the disproportionate burden of unpaid caregiving to both elders and children. #MomsEqualPay
Girls, particularly girls of color, are disproportionately likely to cross over from the child welfare system to the juvenile justice system. #NationalFosterCareMonth #GirlsInJJ
Thrilled to host my beloved colleagues for @NationalYWI & @GGENYC strategy meeting! We are unstoppable together. By centering & funding the solutions of young women of color+, we all win.

Thanks @Jeree_Thomas for uplifting the connection between adultification bias and the justice system. Viewing Black kids as older than their age has been proven to translate to holding them more criminally liable. @GeorgetownLaw #LetBlackGirlsBeGirls EndAdultificationBias.org
