My first impressions of web3
Despite considering myself a cryptographer, I have not found myself particularly drawn to “crypto.” I don’t think I’ve ever actually said the words “get off my lawn,” but I’m much more likely to...

It’s safe to say that Shopify is pushing the absolute frontier of what’s possible with Rails and Ruby. Their main majestic monolith is a staggering 2.8m lines of Ruby responsible for processing over $100m in sales per hour at peak 🤯. And they’re doing it running latest Rails 🥂
RemoteOK.io is a single PHP file called "index.php" generating $65,651 this month. No frameworks. No libraries (except jQuery). 💖 (SGD 89,415=USD 65,651)
As of end 2019, Shopify had a monolith of 21K Ruby files and 150K tests ran at every push. Intercom monolith codebase was huge too when I left early 2019. Monoliths can age very well. Don't get bogged down into breaking it up before you "really" need to.
Intercom monolith still going strong! IMO more likely that in future we’ll fold some existing services back in to it rather than start splitting it up.
