Notion that Rabin's assassination in 1995 killed the two-state solution is a common mistake, if not wilful misrepresentation. In 2000 Prime Minister Ehud Barak offered Palestinians more than Rabin would have dreamt to offer, and they still walked away. Same with Olmert in 2008.

There's something else: It's not just Jewish literacy, or not being ignorant. In Orthodox community, knowledge of texts and how to wield them is power. Denying women access to that knowledge systematically disempowers us, & justifies our not having a voice or a seat at the table.
