@LivePippas @ColinMendelsohn @AlexWodak This will be a long 🧵 I started smoking at the end of high school, at the age of 17. I smoked a pack a day through Uni and my working life. Both parents and 3 siblings smoke. I tried quitting using every NRT available Gum worked best 4 me

Lol, even Colin called him out.

Lol, but true Richard?

To be fair I don't ever recall either of them advocating for free access, just that vaping should be regulated like any other adult consumer product e.g. tobacco or alcohol. There are always risks of kids experimenting but isn't that a parenting issue not a law enforcement one?

Both Dr @AlexWodak and Dr @ColinMendelsohn are lobbying loudly for free access to vapes. Neither have denied receiving money from either vaping companies or associated entities, or ‘addiction clinics’. That is concerning. @amapresident @brookmanknight @RACGP @NSWHealth

May I take a moment to note this is the first time I'd heard of this person. I don't think he's a troll but he's hitting all the right talking points. We just need an EVALI or popcorn lung comment and I can be sure.

No they’re not… they’re using health policy to have you quit harmful health practices.

PSA disposable vapes rose to popularity when th US started restricting JUUL. They were simply a market response as people wanted an affordable, simple to use device. The prescription vapes in Australia are more in common with JUUL pods than disposables currently on the market.

"The vast majority are not currently addicted" Sandro... We know so why have we been hearing about an epidemic for months. Taking choice away also makes them less effective for adults who don't want to die from smoking. I really dislike this guy.

Health Minister Mark Butler has said that kids are wearing nicotine patches in order to get through two-hour exams without a vape. Dr @SandroDemaio tells us what addicted kids will turn to when single-use vapes become inaccessible.

I want to make something very clear to people looking to stock up some nicotine. You can legally import up to a 3 month supply at a time. Nowhere does it say you need to order every 3 months. I'm making 4 purchases this month. @LivePippas @ColinMendelsohn @SteveDo35227481

This is rage inducing. This is an indicator of how he feels about people. I assume he's still hiding behind a block so the screenshot is for @AlexWodak

This is what happens when you spend too many years dealing with the refuse of drug addiction. A perception that the world cannot exist without more addiction and harms while fueling industry profits.

I don't see the youth vaping epidemic the media keeps telling me about. 25% that EVER tried it, only 10% used in the last month and 5% regular use. It does not appear they were asked about any other risky behaviours like smoking or drinking @ColinMendelsohn @AlexWodak Thoughts?

🚨 New study among >4000 14-17y/os found: 💨 1 in 4 had tried vaping 💨 1 in 10 vaped in the past month 💨 1 in 20 were vaping regularly 💨 Gender differences existed 💨 Vaping just as common across geographical remoteness and SES @TheMatilda_USyd onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.5694/mj…
