What?!?! Over HALF of you guys got a 4 or 5 on this year’s AP Stats exam!!! I’m so very very proud of all of you! I’m sending out emails to some of you now...
One more day — #APExam scores will be available online starting tomorrow. Access is based on a student's physical location. spr.ly/6018DWI02
1 student, out of ~200,000 worldwide whose exams are complete so far, earned all 100/100 points possible on this year’s AP Statistics exam. We're hiring . . .
AP Statistics FRQ6 (statistical inference) was far too difficult for both college students and AP students, so even the cutscore to earn a 5 did not require any points on this problematic question.
AP Statistics FRQ3 (probability / simulation) was easily the exam’s best question, distinguishing across the range of what students know and can do. Students earning 3s could answer part of the question, students earning 4 could answer most, and students earning 5s, all of it.
There’s no wider difference across multiple-choice topics than what we see in the AP Statistics exam. Students generally score very high on data, statistical inference, sampling & experimentation, but very low on probability/simulation.
The 2018 AP Statistics exam scores: 5: 14.1%; 4: 21.3%; 3: 25.2%; 2: 16.1%; 1: 23.3%. Congrats to these teachers and students – these increases in 3s, 4s, 5s are the result of stronger mastery of the material this year than last.
Final day for Norm and Al here... they are retiring and moving west! They have greatly enjoyed their time teaching AP Stats at OFHS but it’s time to move on. And they are leaving the entire Stats program in the very capable hands of @Mr_Vas and @jvanarnhem. #goodluckandgoodbye
My answers (hopefully correct!) to the 2018 AP Stats Free Response questions are posted on the back wall in G1. Stop by this week if you want to see them!
It’s boring without you guys here today! Hope you are all at the Irish Center ready to start your AP Stats exam! #goodluck
Tomorrow!!! Read the question and then answer the question. That’s it... that’s all you have to do! Be clear and concise and include context in your answers. This is what you’ve worked hard for all year! #youcandoit #yougotthis #makemeproud #justdoyourbest
The AP Stats exam is one week from today! Keep studying and working hard!
Free response scores! If you weren’t here yesterday to do it, you will do it in class on Thursday.
On your day off today, it would be a great idea to practice some FRAPPYs! Either pick a year and do all six, or look at Excel file on our class google site and pick a chapter/topic to focus on. Either way, try some and use the scoring guidelines online to check!!
Good luck on all your AP Exams over the next two weeks! Use your “lucky” pencils....the placebo effect is a real thing!
Don’t forget, the Free Response portion of your AP Stats Final is Monday. Three Frappys for you!! If you’re taking the AP Chem or AP Psych exam Monday, then your three Frappys will be waiting for you to do Thursday in class.
Beautiful morning to grade some AP Stats finals. Lots of you did a great job... proud of you! And “no obvious signs of non-normality” in these graphs! If you want to know which dot is you in that dot plot, email me and ask. Otherwise we will go over in class Wednesday.
