👏🗣️Kudos to @LiftingLA @P4HR @ReproRights for this incredible report documenting the harms of abortion bans in Louisiana. Grateful to everyone who helped make this report a reality. Much love and solidarity from us in Oklahoma!
♀️ And in states like Louisiana, where PHR recently documented widespread human rights abuses and health harms from state #abortion bans, mifepristone is still heavily restricted against medical evidence. phr.org/our-work/resou… @LiftingLA @ReproRights
In OK, which had 4 bans at the time, @P4HR @OKRepro @ReproRights research found that no hospital staff were able to articulate clear policies for emergency obstetric care to let clinicians to make decisions based on their clinical judgement and patients’ stated needs.
In Oklahoma, our groundbreaking 2023 report w/ @ReproRights & @OKRepro showed that hospitals could not provide pregnant patients with info about access to abortion in case of a life-threatening mishap, a clear human rights violation. phr.org/our-work/resou…

"We are appealing this decision that is completely out of step with all other federal trial courts and that ignores the overwhelming evidence that gender-affirming medical care is safe and effective evidence-based care."
BREAKING: The United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma has rejected a request from families and a medical provider to temporarily block an Oklahoma law banning gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth while the case proceeded.
TODAY—we're in an interim study for the @OKHouseofReps to address how criminally charging pregnant/postpartum people with substance use disorder affects the lives & health of mothers, newborns, & families. The laws need to change. Watch live at 2:30pm ET: sg001-harmony.sliq.net/00283/Harmony/…
Our new report found almost 80% of all pregnancy-related arrests happen in just 5 southern states. AL leads the charge. The harm of pregnancy criminalization falls hardest on those already marginalized by class & race. Check your state: pregnancyjusticeus.org/data-center/ #PregnancyJustice
These results reflect how Oklahoma’s abortion bans threaten the health of pregnant people and violate their human rights, and impede the ability of clinicians to fulfil their professional and ethical obligations. Urgent action is needed to end this health and human rights crisis
As the complaint notes, our @P4HR research with @OKRepro and @ReproRights found that not a single OK hospital seemed able to articulate clear, consistent policies for emergency OB care to allow clinicians to make decisions based solely on their clinical judgement & patient needs.
U.S. state #abortion bans cause confusion that endanger lives. This week, our partner @ReproRights filed an HHS complaint citing our joint research report in OK to challenge a hospital's denial of life-saving emergency care under EMTALA. More here: phr.org/our-work/resou…
In March 2023, Jaci Statton was denied life-saving medical care by a hospital in Oklahoma as a result of the state’s #abortion ban. Our partners @ReproRights have petitioned @HHS to investigate this refusal. [THREAD] x.com/ReproRights/st…
Jaci's experience is another example how OK's punitive abortion laws cause confusion about clinicians’ ability to provide life-saving care during obstetric emergencies, reflecting findings from our report w/ @ReproRights & @OKRepro phr.org/our-work/resou…
