Students say: one reason we drop out is because of the body searches, the search through bags. We are not criminals

Students say: schools all over the country are designed as jails. Wear a uniform. Wear a clear backpack. Don't prepare us to be locked up

Students say: you know the problems in your school. Speak out. Step up. You have a voice. You can do something.

Students say: Work with other kids to help them know what's going on. Know that you all are leaders. You have a role

Students: teachers in our school know who's making the changes. Get involved at your school.

Students say: there is more power when parents and students act together. Work together.

Students say: make sure kids know they are the leaders

Students say: Education makes the difference. Teach kids that education matters. Teach them that deserve a right to education

Students say: we can see the huge inequality between rich and poor schools. We are told we are not going to college because we are not rich

Students: we really are being oppressed

Students say: we fought hard to get AP classes but we don't have money for labs. We couldn't afford the gloves to protect us from chemicals

Students say: Why aren't people asking us questions about what's going on?

Students say: who are we holding accountable? Kids aren't scapegoats.

Students: we need resources. We don't have as many textbooks as we need. We have seven books in the library

Students: teachers are missing compassion and the passion to teach

Dylan Torres from Denver: no matter where you come from, you should have a chance to go to college

When students go to school with police with guns, the feeling is one of being in prison
