MS Word’s autosave function is great but it keeps saving at regular intervals,working your disk too hard.Turning autosave off saves battery.
Activities like email and word processing consume much less power than gaming or playing a DVD. If on battery, pick your priorities wisely.
If you can do one thing at a time when you are on battery. The more programs you run at a time, the quicker the battery runs out.
Laptop battery tip – Control Panel > Power Options > Select the ‘max battery’ for maximum effect.
Standby mode does saves some power but hibernating a laptop saves your PCs state as it is, and completely shuts itself down.
Cut down on programs running in the background e.g iTunes, Desktop Search ... all these add to the CPU load and cut down battery life.
Dim your laptop screen to a comfortable level. This will give you extra battery juice.
Cleaning mains charger's tip and battery's gold contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol can help with battery charging problems.
If your laptop battery doesn't charge fully, use it all up. Then recharge it from zero to full. This works on many battery types.
