The quickest way to let Covid affect your Parkinson's is to let it convince you to stop doing the things you know work-exercise, eat healthy, stay mentally active and remain hopeful about the future.
Its easy to break winning routines because of anxiety about Covid. Eating & sleeping well, keeping w/your medication schedule, & doing some kind of daily exercise (walking safely outdoors, Tai Chi, shadow boxing, etc.) are your best response to both PD and the virus.
Lots of patients are reporting their PD is getting worse during their Covid self-isolation. PD does not worsen over the short term unless something else is going on. Cause is likely to be worry and stress. Talk to someone who understands the effects of mental health on PD.
Dutch neurologist Dr. Bastiaan Bloem described PD as the next pandemic, and one of our own making. He predicted that over the next 20 years the number of people with Parkinson's will double and the cause is our heavy use of herbicides, solvents, and other toxic chemicals.
Do what the CDC suggests and follow what your local Covid-19 response requires of you. Anxiety is fueled by a sense that we have no control over circumstances. Folks with PD already know that feeling from when they first received their diagnosis.
As if folks with Parkinson's didn't have enough anxiety, virus worries are an added burden. You will get through all of this. If you are struggling, call a mental health provider and schedule a distance therapy session.

4 Ways Parkinson’s Disease Might Influence Your Job Performance Review
By Paul Short, Ph.D.
Love is the center of a PD relationship, not giving care. From that love comes the willingness to be there for a loved one.
How can a progressive disease move in stages? Better to think of PD in terms of the continuum of symptoms you are experiencing.
Alzheimer's not a synonym for dementia.Dementia is the term for cognitive compromise & can also be caused by PD, stroke, other diseases
Staging of PD is an artifact of a human need to put order on our fear about a disease that only gets worse
It is not your fault you have PD. Remember it is not your loved one's fault either when you interact with them.
