Home manufacturing must to be normalized if we want healthier co-existence between humans and robots
If a few companies control the most powerful AI and robots, they’ll control the future. The antidote is open robotics: open hardware, open software, open skills. Shareable, repairable, learnable. Power should be distributed to communities, not locked in corporate infrastructure.
Home-based manufacturing methods, such as 3d printing, will be crucial for ensuring a future where robots are truly democratized instead of being entirely controlled by large corporations. This is a powerful technology that needs to be put in the hands of the people.
Open robotics is how we curb inequality. If a handful of firms own the robots, they own the economy. We need open hardware, open code, and open curricula so everyone can build, repair, and benefit. Concentrated autonomy is feudalism with batteries.
“Subservient AI” bakes hierarchy into the future. Language use matters, and kids shouldn’t learn that owning intelligent machines is normal. While today’s robots are tools, tomorrow may be different. Teach dignity, cooperation, accountability - not dominance.
Some say AI should always be subservient. While today’s robots are tools, tomorrow’s may be much more. It’s important we all learn as much as we can about AI and robotics now. If we prepare ourselves with knowledge, we can later help shape a dignified human–machine future.
