Dr. Nkrumah in 1965 opened the country's first stretch of motorway, Accra- Tema motorway -- which will ease traffic between Accra, & the nearby port & industrial town of tema. It is (19 kms) long. Poor illumination now has remained a major problem as it has no functioning lights.

In 1965, September 7th, at the request of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the Accra-Tema City council set up a Taxi Service with Brand New Russian cars in Accra. They were inspected by President Nkrumah, for a tour of the city, he was driven by one of the service's women drivers.
UGCC Was founded on the 4th August 1947, and Driving from the right-hand side in Ghana also started on the 4th August 1974..There shall be another 4th August one day in history..
