A Freedom of Information request by @DLGroupMedia has shown £98m worth of tools were stolen from tradespeople in 2023. Over half of the 44,514 reported tool thefts were from vehicles – a 14% increase on the previous year. BBC Breakfast among those covering this today.

Christmas bonuses should be tax free up to £1k... fair enough taxing a whopping massive one, but let people go spend or save a bit more money. Don't ask me how that's implemented or point out any unfairness, I haven't thought this out.
