A Penn State Historical Marker stands near Rec Hall to commemorate this significant moment in history.
In 1964, civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. received the Nobel Peace Prize for his nonviolent campaign against racial inequality. A few weeks later, on Jan. 21, 1965, King visited Penn State and addressed a crowd of more than 8,000 people at Rec Hall. #ThrowbackThursday

The MLK Jr. Commemoration Student Committee is looking for an artist to design our 2020-21 Theme Poster! Submit a portfolio to be entered into the contest and the winner will receive a $300 commission! The contest ends October 18th at 11:59pm. Any PSU student is welcome to enter!
