Through play, children learn about themselves, about others, about how things work and about their world. They experience challenges, frustrations, success and the joy of mastery. This is true for all children, including those with special needs.
Why do we need Special Education Workshops for parents? Statistics from “Disability and American Families:”, US Census Bureau Report: One out of 9 children under the age of 18 in the US today receive special education services. parentsask.net
Parents .. please review your child's IEP.. Raise the bar... with no disrespect to school systems... you need to put them on task to raise the bar.. You know your child .. make the school systems accountable for meaningful progress, not just statistical progress!
Parents of children with special needs do not need advocates.. they need to be given the knowledge to become advocates and the support until the get there.. Parents Ask mission is to transition parents of children with special needs from being Reactive to being proactive.
Parents Ask Special Education Conference coming soon.
As we begin 2018 we all have goals and dreams we want to accomplish. Parents need to review their child's IEP and ask, is my child being given every opportunity to reach their full potential? Or is my child given low expectation goals that do not promote growth or progress?
