Effective teaching is not a simple matter of executing specific behaviors & strategies, because effective teaching is grounded in human relationships. If teachers don't have sound, supportive relationships w/ their students, the effects of their instructional practices are muted.

The area and perimeter practice continued as we designed a yard space for fairies and aliens. Students added pools and patios and then determined how much sod they would need to put down.
With inspiration from @JillianMcCalli2 we took math outside to get hands on practice with area and perimeter.

Presented the session, "Igniting Students Curiosity Through the Use of Picture Books," at the Educators for Social Justice conference today. Forgot to take a picture of myself but got one of my books. Such an amazing opportunity to connect with educators in the area!
Wrapped up the yr w/a Hist.Fict unit centered on the Civil Rights mvmnt embedded w/learning abt biases & stereotypes.I watched stdts grapple w/new info that chllngd & changed their thnkg.Chk out some of their reflections.This is life changing wrk & I’m honored 2 be part of it.💛
