Here’s a summer update of our school’s land lab that has been dedicated as a pollinator habitat!
Students traveled to Snyder Park and to Springfield Promise Garden, not just to learn more about the content being discussed in class but also to actively contribute to their community through service work! Happy Earth Day!

We are starting off the semester learning about ecosystems dynamics, with a focus on decomposers. Today, students prepared their own mushroom bags to cultivate three kinds of oyster mushrooms.

Global Impact STEM Academy (GISA) students was one of six in Ohio to represent at a global institution.
Student delegates have been busy networking and listening to panels from experts.
A day filled with roundtable discussion and Borlaug Dialogues. Finishing things off with a tour of the Hall of Laureates.

Students have been putting their lab skills to the test to find the best method to extract pollen from honey samples!

A great day spent with @NourishFuture at Waterman Farms learning about fermentation in livestock digestion, soybean aphids, and beneficial insects.
Today students have collected data from their pan traps that were set yesterday. They used their samples to calculate biodiversity index and identified common names and scientific names of their collected insects!
Environmental science students are in the land lab today to plant cover crops while they are learning about why farmers use cover crops and how it can increase biodiversity.
