Announcing PiNet! Centralised user accounts + file storage system for @Raspberry_Pi classroom raspberrypi.org/raspi-ltsp-is-…

After 7 years, it’s finally time to close the chapter on PiNet. Announcing the upcoming PiNet End of Life. pinet.org.uk/blog/2020/10/2…

I can at least say that the “Places” menu on the left is back in @PiNetDev Stretch (after being disabled in Raspbian), allowing for easy access to flash drives (and @microbit_edu’s) along with PiNet shared folders. So am *slowly* making progress... @all_about_code @RaspiKidd

Got asked again today "Is PiNet Stretch nearly ready yet?..." Oh how I wish I could say yes, but the move to Stretch has brought with it bug after bug after bug in LTSP, Raspberry Pi Trading packages, PiNet itself and other core software. You fix one and another appears 🙁

Pleased to confirm PiNet Jessie Alpha now includes full support for @Raspberry_Pi 3 B+! Updates for Beta/Stable channels will role out over next few weeks once folks on the Alpha channel have had time to test it all out. PiNet Jessie Alpha servers will prompt on next startup.

Given there has been plenty of questions of the past while of PiNet and Raspbian Stretch, here is a little bit of an update on the progress so far. Plan is to keep the Github Issue up to date as I work through it. github.com/PiNet/PiNet/is…
Set up @PiNetDev on our @Raspberry_Pi lab @WhiteakerMS thanks to @salemkeizer Tech Dept for the server and OSU Federal Credit Union the Pi's! #collectiveefficacy

Fantastic to see PiNet (even if just in the background) on a local TV station! Thanks @ghostyroasty.
I guess it was inevitable eventually... Had first support request come into the @PiNetDev support email address for @Raspberry_Pi PiServer, as opposed to PiNet this morning... Seemed bit confused between the 2 of them. I pointed him towards Pi forums (or just install PiNet 😀 )
Just a quick reminder to schools/organisations still running PiNet Wheezy. Support is no longer provided for any PiNet installation running 1.1.12 and below (final Wheezy release) as of 1st Jan 2018. This was initially announced back in Dec 2016, then extended in Aug 2017.
New post: teaching with Raspberry Pis and @PiNetDev, a tool to help educators manage a classroom set of Pis. raspberrypi.org/blog/teaching-…

We're starting our music unit with @deejaydoc. My CS students are going through the @Sonic_Pi turorial on @PiNetDev.

Lab ready to go for @Raspberry_Pi Day @PhysicsStrath, running @PinetDev Jessie on 24 RPis. Worked a treat!

Can you believe that it is almost 2 years to the day that I set up @PiNetDev and I haven't needed to flash the SD cards since
