Just found a Reddit page dedicated to New England independence and it's got to be one of the worst things I've happened upon. All the worst stereotypes of New Englanders funneled into one awful, treasonous, intellectual afterbirth.
Laws regulating “hate” speech exist because people are too lazy to enforce moral standards but know something is wrong when people do this and enthusiastic governments, seeing a way to further entrench their power and authority, jump at the opportunity to “address” the issue.

Fun fact: All New Englanders are literally the same and we have no differences in anything. Actually, we’re approaching a hive mind status where I will force everyone here to enjoy Moxie, the Red Sox, and Henry Cabot Lodge. No discernible differences anywhere up in these parts!
What Northerners/non-Southerners don’t appreciate is how regional and variegated “the South” is. Not only state to state, but within states, you find very different cultures - food, clothing, manners, etc. Mobile, Montgomery, Birmingham, and Huntsville very different cities.

I’ve encountered the periodic “horse stealing Yankees” story when discussing the Civil War with people and I never deny the charge. Not because I think it’s correct but because my great grandfather’s infantry regiment became a mounted infantry unit after they did exactly that.

I think I would off myself if I were an appellate judge and the Supreme Court of the United States or the state in which I presided overturned an opinion I wrote overturning a trial court It’s definitely worse than being a trial judge and having an appellate court overturn you.
