Work was led by co-first authors @Robcox_science and Josef Wolf. Excellent use of the ferret model to study #molnupiravir efficacy and effect on SARS-CoV-2 transmission. rdcu.be/cbEjz

Excited to see our paper on blocking SARS-CoV-2 transmission with #EIDD-2801 (#molnupiravir) in @NatureMicrobiol. Study shows that orally administered #molnupiravir is efficacious against SARS-CoV-2 in ferrets and efficiently prevents virus spread to untreated contact ferrets.

A new antiviral drug that fights against a broad range of human pathogens in the paramyxovirus family, including the measles virus, has been discovered by Georgia State biomedical researchers. That's science #TheStateWay! ow.ly/Gs0V50AymEk

And many thanks to @anice_lowen, who worked with us on the 2018 study and used her guinea pig transmission model to demonstrate that the drug effectively suppresses virus spread between animals.

3/n: This #EIDD2801 is the same drug that shows promising efficacy against the #COVID19 virus (#SARSCoV2) in bit.ly/3cqhLSN. Great job @timothysheahan @Baric_Lab 👍 #ittakesavillage Richard Plemper laid the groundwork so #EIDD2801 can now be in clinical trials!

Temporal dynamics in viral shedding and transmissibility of COVID-19

Nature Medicine - Presymptomatic transmission of SARS-CoV-2 is estimated to account for a substantial proportion of COVID-19 cases.

Great work, the interplay between the nucleocapsid and polymerase of viruses of the mononegavirales order is fascinating, and it seems we're now learning more about it in Ebola virus as well biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Paramyxoviruses nucleocapsid cores could have conserved a direct interface with the polymerase reminiscent of pneumoviruses, in spite of their long disordered C-terminal tail! Still wondering how the whole machinery moves. advances.sciencemag.org/content/6/10/e…

So exciting! Our influenza inhibitor #EIDD2801 repurposed against SARS-CoV-2. Starting clinical trials this week. Big shout out to Mart @TootsMart for his animal and human airway organoid work showing efficacy. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31645453
