Genuinely sad that @podcaststartup has ended. A groundbreaking look behind the curtain on what it takes to create these wonderful shows. The @Gimletmedia focused seasons were the heart of the series and showed lots of us how hard it is to do what they do. Thanks for the ride.
Found it hard to listen to today’s @TheBigPic discussion on media saturation coverage of Joker without mentioning The Ringer’s own contribution of seemingly hundreds of articles and podcasts dedicated to the film.
Is there a line a joke cannot cross? If so, where is it...and so on. #StillProcessing intelligently tackles the topic with a focus on Dave Chappelle’s latest special. Compare it to Bill Simmons’s increasingly frequent and whiny complaints about “why can’t we be funny anymore?”
Just watched “Buzz” documentary on HBO. I knew most of the facts about Buzz but WHOA. Yet, even with his story Buzz is not the most interesting person in the film. I was far more invested in Lisa Smith, Buzz’s wife. I want to see HER story. Thanks for the rec @TaraAriano!
Each episode of @NobleBloodTales could be its own tv mini-series. I’ve already started casting the tv version on Lady Arbella, a story unknown to me.
I spent more time thinking and ready about “Lost” (while it was on) than any other show before or since. So, I am really excited for “Through the Looking Glass” from #syfywire. First episode is wonderful and I’m already upset it is a limited series.
#TheSterlingAffair from @30for30 is HIGHLY bingeable. I could see it as a launching pad for a follow-up on race and the NBA.
Waaaaayyyyyy behind but finally listened to The Message and lifeafter shows. Highly recommend if you’re into Twilight Zone/Black Mirror type of stories.
I know #TheGoodPlace is ending but please don’t take away #TheGoodPlacePodcast. Just have the cast and crew stop in to talk with each other and @MarcEvanJackson. I would listen to them tell stories and shoot the shirt till its time for my points to be counted.
Latest @99piorg (“Dead Cars”) got me in the mood to revisit Cicely, Alaska.
Promising start to @passengerpod. Spooky vibe, solid performances. While I appreciate the ingenuity of framing ad breaks as “messages from the cockpit”, I can also see it driving me absolutely nuts by the end of the season.
On this week’s #WithFriendsLikeThese @anamariecox and @trufelman manage to combine the focus of their respective shows into a wonderful discussion of utopias, political wish fulfillment, and chosen communities. It’s nice when two hosts get along.
