Is it me or does the day after every school vacation feel like we are starting ALL OVER again?
Notre Dame football lives by mantra 'play like a champion today'. We should live by 'make a difference today'. Everyday. #potm
We need to keep things fresh & unique for kids. But, we need to also keep in mind how vital routine & consistency are. #potm
Teachers need to know that we will support them & not undermine when things that should be 'teacher's purogative' are questioned by parents.
Kids get crazy over prospect of a 'snow day'. But, teachers are just as bad and...a group text amongst principals shows we are the worst!
There are 'you' decisions, 'us' decisions & 'me" decisions. 99% of time staff are fine w/ all as long as they know up front which is which.
The best faculty meetings are devoid of administrivia & instead focus on substantive discussions about kids & learning. #potm
More than anything else, kids need to know we care about them & even when they mess up our #1 priority is helping them grow. #potm
We need to always be humble & self-deprecating in word, most competent & confident in action. It's a fine line. #potm

Simplify, simplify, simplify: deep breath and ask 'what is best for kids?' #potm
Kids always priority #1, staff a close 2nd. Every other stakeholder a distant 3rd but if 1+2 are taken care of, all others will be content
Stand. tests should not be demonized. We should show kids they are only part of process. But they are part of most jobs too,not just school

Spirit week, dunk tank, pie in face: do it all. But, make sure kids, staff, parents all know you are utmost professional first. #potm
All staff in a school need to feel supported & valued individually while also knowing that everyone must row in same direction. #potm
We need to strive to have a real, substantive personal connection with every student we have. EVERY one. #potm
Walk the halls all the time. And...never walk by a piece of trash on the floor without stopping + picking it up. #potm
Difficult conversations will always be difficult, but having them a day early makes them far less difficult than a day late. #potm
