Victoria Montou “Tante Toya” (c. 1739 - 1805) was a freedom fighter during the Haitian Revolution, during which she fought and commanded other soldiers. She was given the title of Duchess after the revolution, as she helped raise Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the 1st Emperor of Haiti.
