Be careful using ChatGPT for historic cocktail recipes. It often gets them wrong. My most recent interchange researching Chicago Fizz is a good example. I drilled down, teaching it by providing documentation of its errors. Eventually it learned, & I found source of its bias.

Poured Chateau de Ribebon 2019 for steak dinner tonite. Bargain #Bordeaux Supérieur wine (<$7 @CostcoWine), balanced #merlot w/cab sauv & franc, rustic, medium body, drink now, let breath. #bargainwine #bordeauxwine #bargainbordeaux

What makes red vermouth red? Not its color, which is more auburn brown. Likely so-called because its Italian moniker rosso means red, but generally not made from red wine grape. Rather, white wine flavored w/botanicals & sweetened w/caramelized sugar, giving it its darker color.

Recipe translation: in a mixing glass, with 2-3 lumps of ice the size of a nut, measure: 55% gin, 10% lemon juice, 15% orgeat (almond) syrup, 20% triple sec. Frost rim. Strange, specifies amount of ice, but percentages of other ingredients. My interpretation: convert to ml.

Okay, so I made it! Very easy to drink, actually, reasonably balanced!

To truly appreciate what vermouth can bring to a #martini, you should really try drinking #vermouth. Definitely best w/ ice. Compare different brands & styles. Understand flavor & aroma. Imagine hints of that with your favorite gin, or even vodka. Then try in a dry martini.

Met an older gentleman at the bar tonight. He gave me his card. After he gave me his card, he said, “it’s easier to hand this to the bartender than explain what I want.” I’m a little in love right now.

Millionaire Cocktail #1 prepared w/ @PlantationRums Xaymaca special dry, @PlymouthGinUS sloe gin, apricot brandy, lime juice, & grenadine. Easy to down sour that hides a lot of alcohol. Rarely made today in part because all its ingredients seldom found in bars.

This bourbon, while very young, makes a killer Manhattan, and the best Brown Derby!
