Hello friends. I spent this past weekend experimenting with training a neural network to generate 2D tile maps - or more specifically Zelda Oracle of Seasons maps - and wrote a blog post on the process and results. voxely.net/blog/using-a-r… #MachineLearning
Very cool, but if I can go out on a limb, we aren’t going to be able to dig into that until the very large large square elephant in the room playing voxel pool the last two years is addressed
"I’m still working heavily with voxels and game dev" Thanks for the update. Finally!
wooooowwww, John Lin's back... PLEASEE all the internet want to know what happened with your AMAZING voxel game...
hey uhh so by any chance may we some day be able to play the voxel game you made? or whats its called
I'm so happy to see you post again! Have you been well? Do you still enjoy working on that voxel game project?
I thought it was over, but you're back. So there is still hope for my dream game...
Hello. Are you still working on the voxel project? I just want to say that i miss watching the updates you uploaded over the years. It's unlike anything i've seen before.
Not to be the annoying one too, but voxel. thingy. wher? show bleaze
glad to see you didn't get offed now wen voxel game engine ser
Great stuff. I agree, your results are very good for such a simple model. Would you consider sharing the map data, I've been wanting to try something similar, but collecting the data is too tedious.
Good to have you back Lin, I am looking forward to the read!
In many more months it will be two years without an update.
More than a year has passed since this post. At this point I think the project is dead/canceled.
This is a really fun idea, I can only imagine how amazing a proper more functional version of this as a mod for some games would be! Randomizers where always fun but this would take it to another level. Also..."I’m still working heavily with voxels and game dev" LETS GOOOO!
I think it's a neat idea to fill in the gaps - important parts of the map should be made with purpose and wit by a map designer. PS. Are you under NDA now and can't say anything about the voxel engine you've been working on? If the project just died it'd be heartbreaking.
Hello John Lin, happy new year, when will you upload images about your voxel project?
Idk if you reply to Twitter but could this be a kind of prototype for LLM generated content that actually does have a structure/flow for your voxel project?
This deserves a bookmark. Thanks for explaining every step in great detail!
