From 2008–2014, Dr. Bob Danka worked with commercial beekeepers to create Pol-line bees by pairing VSH queens with commercial drones. The result: strong survival, low mites, big populations & good honey. A key step in bringing Varroa-resistant genetics to real-world beekeeping.

From 1998–2008, researchers bred bees with the Varroa Sensitive Hygiene (VSH) trait, using instrumental insemination to select the strongest resistance. In 2001, VSH genetics moved beyond the lab, a key step toward bees that can truly stand up to mites. #HiloBees #BeeBreeding
