Summary of country’s pledges at #cop28 for the Loss and Damage Fund as of December 2nd, 2023. It’s a great start to the conference, but more funding is needed to ensure climate justice to vulnerable countries
I’ve been following the Loss and Damage Fund at #COP28 and this is what I’ve learned so far 🌎
1/19. It's the end of the first day of #COP28 in Dubai 🇦🇪, which saw the opening plenary of the COP, the #LossAndDamage Fund operationalised and over $400 million (USD) in pledges made for a Fund that needs hundreds of billions. Here are our key #LossAndDamage takeaways.🧵
#COP28 starts this week. With every increment of warming: The risks, impacts & related losses & damages escalate. Adaptation options are becoming more constrained & less effective. What our future will look like depends on the choices we make today. bit.ly/SRYRpt23
How many foreign tourists visited our case study countries in 2022? 🇮🇩 5.5 million to Indonesia 🇳🇵 614, 148 to Nepal 🇵🇭 2.65 million to the Philippines Tourism plays a big role in these countries’ economies. That means when a natural disaster strikes, it has a large impact.
Celina and Dipak presented some preliminary findings from their research at @climatestudents Climate Conference! Jacqueline is the Events and a Engagement Coordinator for Climate Students and was so happy to hear them present at the conference! Cheers 🍻
