New Py-ART release today! Make sure update your version to 1.15.1! Lots of bug fixes included, addressing - NEXRAD radar height units - Volume Azimuthal Display retrievals - Gatemapper improvements github.com/ARM-DOE/pyart/…
Because why not, built a quick little radar plotter. It should come in handy for future classwork and projects! Here is some El-Reno eye-candy!
This is our last chance to register for the "Open Science in the Rockies" short course at the @ametsoc annual meeting (supported by @armnewsteam )! Registration closes December 29, 2022 ! ametsoc.org/index.cfm/ams/…
Registration has opened for the "Open Science in the Rockies: Working With ARM Data from the Surface Atmosphere Integrated Field Laboratory" short course at AMS (Jan 8). We will focus on the #ARMSAIL field campaign data! Here is a sample plot :) ametsoc.org/index.cfm/ams/…
Well we think it looks nicer than the weather!
A close-up! Made using @Py_ART! I have some minor adjustments to make, but its a start!
Very cool! Literally! Thanks to @lauratomkinsWX for contributing to #openscience!
Heavy snow & mixed precip look similar in radar imagery, so #GeospatialAnalytics Ph.D. candidate Laura Tomkins (@lauratomkinsWX) developed a new way to quickly and easily tell them apart. Her code is avail in the v1.11.8 release of @Py_ART. Learn more: ow.ly/plxs50LGqV5
Now my new favorite table
We have a new release (1.14.1)! New features in this release include: - 🛠️ New features, including colormaps and retrievals - 📜 New examples, including a comparison of stratiform vs. convective classification We are thankful for all the contributors who made this possible!
We are excited to be participating in @ClosemberDev ! Interested in getting involved? Check out our issue describing some good first issues + places to get started github.com/ARM-DOE/pyart/…
We are working on a new package, xradar, which brings this new radar radar standard + @xarray_dev together! Check out our documentation! docs.openradarscience.org/projects/xrada…
Modestly celebrating that the #WMO's Infrastructure Commission has endorsed the inclusion of the proposed CF/NetCDF profile for polar weather radar data, called FM301-CfRadial2, in the WMO Manual on Codes. This is a big milestone for the WMO and for the weather radar community!
🛰️ DRpy update 🚨: Today I finally released v1.0.0 of DRpy. It is started to be used by some, so in order to enable reproducibility with this package, I released DRpy's first major version so it can get a DOI on zenodo zenodo.org/record/7259561
Check out my latest publication! We developed a new visualization method to "mute" mixed precipitation regions that are easily misinterpreted as heavy snow in radar data. amt.copernicus.org/articles/15/55…

We LOVE to see it. Great work @RadarScope team 🙌
Also new: red-blue velocity color maps available for non-pro tier (General->Color Palettes -> Velocity -> Balance)
