I finished Swimming Lessons by @ClaireFuller2 last night. What a wonderful, character-driven book! I highly recommend it.


1. THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD by Colson Whitehead #libfaves16 Cleverly blends history and speculative fiction to create something true.


2. LAROSE by Louise Erdrich #libfaves16 Quietly powerful novel about bonds of family & community, justice, & forgiveness.


3. BEHOLD THE DREAMERS by Imbolo Mbue #libfaves16 Timely story about Cameroonian immigrants in NYC in 2008. Audio narration best of year.

5. SHRILL: NOTES FROM LOUD WOMAN by @thelindywest #libfaves16 Brave, honest, and funny


6. HILLBILLY ELEGY by J. D. Vance #libfaves16 Timely memoir of life in small-town Appalachia

7. SHELTER by Jung Yun #libfaves16 #WeNeedDiverseBooks Great suspenseful family drama/crime story.


8. EVICTED: POVERTY & PROFIT IN THE AMERICAN CITY by Matthew Desmond #libfaves16 Eye-opening and necessary.
